My dear Mr. President OBAMA

Dear President Obama,

There are so many things I wish I could say to you.  Like to start with, thank you for fighting for equity.  I know a lot of people don't have to wake up on a daily basis and worry about being second class, but you and I know how that feels...EVERY morning (even as president).  I appreciate that you reflect and use your intelligence to speak to the people (me) in a respectiful way- a way that makes me know you FEEL me and my struggle...Never in my life, have I felt that a president is choosing to fight some of the fights I fight.  I know you get a lot of push back because like I said before, a lot of people don't understand the fight we are fighting.

I am humbled that you know and respect your privilege and try to help others realize theirs.  This privilege is what keeps so many people in the dark, so many people from realizing how they contribute to the joblessness and hopelessness of so many people.  They fail to realize that their opportunities have to be available to all - they fail to realize their opportunities are NOT available to all and then blame victims by categorizing and labeling people as "welfare" recipients and keeping people down by their constant negative and divisive discourse.  I know people "buck" the systems, but on both sides of the "class-pole" rich people and poor people take advantage!! But that doesn't mean we get rid of all things that make people rich OR all things that benefit the poor...

This fight for equity that you fight, is more than just about money it's about creating a humanity where all people are able to make millions!!  I mean if people choose not to make millions when the playing field is fair then that's one thing, but when the playing field is so ridiculously unbalanced, I find it offensive that because I am a multiracial woman (always percieved as Black), a woman, and pretty poor - my voice doesn't matter. ..BECAUSE IT DOES.

I work so hard - I work to educate marginalized youth - I work to help society and I benefit none - except in success stories of my students. I think you are extraordinary for your understanding and value of education. As a teacher, and person who works in education I appreciate your value and interest and policies allowing teachers to be creative....and the fact that you even recognize the inequities within school and school districts - and how that affects society. I don't work for money, I am not envious of Romney and all his rich cronies.  I pity them as they continue to thrive in their oh so boxed, and cozy lives.  They have no clue about me...not my struggles.

I want you to know that unfortunately, many people, Black, White, Green, Yellow all misunderstand our battle, they see your progess and methodolgy as wrong..and many are just racist and/or ignorant (but ignorance can't be an excuse).  Never has a president been marginalized as much as you have...I have no other explanation for their behavior aside from politics, envy and racism.   I have a feeling you knew this would happen when you signed up for the job, and I am positive as I see you as a forward thinker - that you have a plan.

So you don't think I am glorifying you, I understand you aren't perfect, but I also understand that as a person, I know I'd trust you with my favorite people, and I'd trust you with my life.  I see you as an ethical and caring man.  One who chooses to fight the challenging battles that many ignore or choose not see.

I appreciate your professionalism and respect you for the charge that you have decided to take on as president in this oh so divided nation.  As the most powerful man in the nation, I respect your humble nature and assertive stance on what matters to the masses.  Many of the masses may not know how much you are working for them, but I do.  I pray for you each night to lead and guide this country to a place where equity does matter and our voices are heard.  Thank you for your service.  I am sure the pay, awesome flights, and personal chefs aren't worth all of the sacrifies, push-back, and rejection that you receive on a daily basis.  Keep fighting for the little man and woman...keep striving for justice.  Thank you my dear Mr. President OBAMA.
